THE OPPORTUNITY

Located on a spacious site with brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities, including a 1200 sqm tissue culture lab capable of supporting up to 50 staff, we are offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled Technical Coordinator to join our team.  This role reports to the  Technical Specialist and focuses on process improvement, cost reduction and automation initiatives while ensuring smooth day-to-day lab operations. You will organise equipment maintenance, inventory, and procurement, and working closely with the laboratory team to optimise production and uphold our values of precision, accountability, innovation, and collaboration.

Ideally, you will have experience in plant tissue culture, with a proven ability to conduct trials and report on tissue culture quality indicators.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to effectively collaborate across the nursery teams. 

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting tissue culture trials to improve multiplication rates, reduce contamination, and enhance plant quality. 
• Planning and coordinating non-commercial media for R&D and experimental trials. 
• Driving automation and new technology trials, preparing reports on culture performance parameters and ROI potential. 
• Collaborating across the laboratory team to align schedules and operational priorities. 
• Maintaining safety and quality standards, including SOP implementation and staff training.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to demonstrate the following capabilities:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Science or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of two years experience in plant tissue culture, with proven ability to conduct trials and report on culture performance parameters (e.g., contamination rates, multiplication efficiency, and plant quality).
• Strong technical aptitude in media preparation, sterilisation, and lab workflows.
• A high level of attention to detail, quality, and accuracy in all aspects of work.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across teams and lead small groups.
• Proven experience in data tracking and inventory management using Excel.
• A demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and fostering a positive team culture.
• Valid, unrestricted Australian working rights
