The Opportunity

Due to continued growth and investment we have recently commissioned a new state-of-the-art nursery foundation facility with plans to scale from 1ha of production to up to 12 ha in 2 years. Reporting to site management, we are seeking an experienced production supervisor to oversee  substrate operations extending to; abour planning & scheduling; procurement; labour supervision; as well as oversight of compliance with site workplace health and safety, and clean stock protocols. In a nutshell, your job will be to ensure the following is carried out:

  • Operational & Capacity Planning/Reporting: Contributing to the preparation and execution of production plans ensuring maximum utilisation of labour, equipment, and resources.
  • Plant Propagation: Providing supervision across the plant propagation process ensuring timely and efficient execution of operational and plant propagation plans to deliver to forecasts, extending to planting, irrigation, spraying, husbandry, and planting activities.
  • Procurement: Ensuring goods, materials and services are procured on time, to schedule and site requirements as well as managing inward goods and maintenance of inventory data. 
  • Supervision: Providing general supervision and leadership to general nursery hands and teams and ensuring high levels of productivity and resolution of day-to-day people issues, as well as coordinating and monitoring contract labour. 
  • Health & Safety: Promoting high standards of workplace health and ensuring compliance with internal and external safety policies and procedures.

 

ABOUT YOU

We encourage you to apply if you meet the following criteria

  • Previous supervisory experience within the hort/agri sector.
  • Ability to prepare and report on basic operating costs. 
  • Ability to work effectively in high pressure & fast-paced environment.
  • Previous exp. supervising, rostering, and general management of nursery/agri crews.
