Laboratory Supervisor

THE ROLE

Set on an expansive site with brand new facilities and equipment, including a state of the art, 1200 sqm tissue culture facility that can accommodate up-to 50 staff, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Supervisor to join the team in overseeing tissue culture operations. Reporting directly to the Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day support, guidance and direction to a team of Lab Technicians and Assistants to ensure the TC team delivers on production quality and quantity targets. 

Ideally, you will have had prior experience working in a Horticulture, commercial plant Nursery or a plant tissue culture laboratory, and overseeing Media, Quality and Production teams, to ensure protocols are being followed. You will also possess sound communication and interpersonal skills to guide others including inducting and training laboratory staff on best practice propagation  techniques.  Some of your key duties will include: 

  • Supporting day to day TC operations including but not limited to; rostering, generating work orders and directions, training, documentation maintenance, hygiene controls, and production reporting. 
  • Supporting TC management in production planning activities, as well as coordination of plant deliveries to nurseries and third-party laboratories. 
  • Ensuring TC media inventory availability to specifications as required and oversee stock controls and record keeping of media inventory. 
  • Ensuring staff follow high standards of safety across laboratory activities. 
  • Record and report on TC production activities as required, including maintenance of records.
