Food Safety & Compliance Officer

THE OPPORTUNITY….
We are seeking a Food Safety & Compliance Officer to support food safety, and ethical sourcing activities across our business. Reporting to the Food Safety & Compliance Manager, this role plays a key part in maintaining compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal standards while supporting the effective operation of our Food Safety Management System and Ethical Sourcing Program.
This is a mid-level opportunity suited to someone with experience in food safety or compliance who is passionate about this space and looking to take ownership of key activities and contribute to continuous improvement across a national operation.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING….
- Support supplier compliance and ethical sourcing, including maintaining documentation and audit readiness
- Assist with food safety activities, including incident management, investigations, and customer queries
- Monitor and escalate food safety and ethical sourcing compliance risks
- Maintain and improve the Food Safety Management System, including documentation, audits, and training records
- Support the continous improvement of the Ethical Sourcing Program, including
- Support testing programs, packaging initiatives, and label compliance
- Contribute to reporting, data accuracy, and continuous improvement initiatives
ABOUT YOU…
You are a detail-oriented and proactive professional with a strong foundation in food safety and compliance. You will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Quality Management, Food Science, Agriculture, or similar
- Experience in food safety, agriculture, or horticulture environments
- Knowledge of HACCP, Freshcare or related certifications
- Exposure to frameworks such as SEDEX, FairFarms, or similar (desirable)
- Strong communication skills with ability to manage documentation and reporting
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
- Sound problem-solving capability, including root cause analysis
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel interstate occasionally
