THE ROLE
Are you a dynamic and passionate individual with significant experience in berry production? We are seeking an experienced Agronomist to join our regional Tasmanian team, in a role where you can make a significant impact on the growth and success of our independent growers. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this high-impact role will give you the opportunity to apply your technical expertise in guiding growers towards achieving optimal production results.
Some of your key duties will extend to:
- Providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the local team to ensure high performance and exceptional service delivery to our growers.
- Utilising your in-depth knowledge of agronomic principles to assist growers in optimizing crop production, resolving challenges, and implementing cutting-edge farming techniques extending to nutrition, pest & disease, and plant health programs.
- Staying up to date with the latest advancements in agricultural technologies, market trends, and scientific research, and effectively communicating these insights to the team and growers.
- Conducting regular field visits, interacting directly with growers to understand their unique needs, and providing tailored recommendations based on their specific circumstances.
- Disseminating Food Quality standards, guidelines and protocols and assist growers in the development of documentation and protocols.
- Assisting in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across customer requirements, legal and other compliance initiative
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To be considered you will need to be able to demonstrate the following in your application:
- Tertiary qualifications in Agronomy or Plant Science preferred but not essential
- Previous agricultural experience preferably soft fruit production
- Proficiency in the use of Excel – basic level
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work under limited supervision
- Unrestricted drivers’ licence and full Australian working rights
